To enhance the scope of Information Technology in the society requires availability of user-friendly tools and technologies in Indian Languages. This necessitated launching of a new program- National Roll out Plan. Thus, with the aim to develop information processing tools to facilitate human machine interaction in Indian languages and to develop technologies to create to access multilingual knowledge resources, TDIL Programme of Department of Electronics and Information Technology launched free of cost language CDs containing various software tools like Bharteeya Libre Office, Open Type Fonts, Keyboard Drivers, Firefox Web Browser, E-mailing Client, etc for public use for all 22 constitutionally recognized languages.

These software tools can be downloaded from http://www.ildc.gov.in/. A typical Indian office is when enabled with these language CDs, user are able to do office related work like Letter typing, create presentations and spread sheets, Surf web using localized web browser, create web content, send E-mail etc in Indian languages. Also, convert storage code of the text file is possible with Gist Data Converter tool. Some of major milestones are as below:

I) Use of our tools in Computer Proficiency Certification Test by Government of Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh government has included our typing tool in their Computer Proficiency Certificate Test.  

II) Preloading of our Shabdika Software on all laptops distributed among students by the Government of Rajasthan

One other milestone added in our success story, through a request by Government of Rajasthan to pre-load the software on all laptops that were to be distributed among students by the Government of Rajasthan in year 2013.

III) Use of our tools by UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Lucknow

Another achievement is, the use of standardized In-script Keyboard by Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Lucknow for the recruitment of Programmer & Computer operator.

IV) Wide Acceptance of Language CDs

The popularity of these CDs is indicated by the number of CD dispatched and number of downloads. More than 12 Lacs software tools and Fonts CDs have been distributed to the masses and more than 1 Crore downloads have happened from the ILDC websites. Recent figures can be seen on ILDC dashboard.
