Padma is a system for transforming Indic text between various public and proprietary formats. This extension applies the technology to Mozilla based applications. Padma is available as an extension for Firefox, Thunderbird, Netscape, Mozilla suite and SeaMonkey platforms. Padma transforms Indic text encoded in proprietary formats (ex. Dynamic fonts) automatically to Unicode. Padma currently supports Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Devanagari, Gujarati, Kannada, Bengali, and Gurmukhi scripts.
Unicode Conversion Gateway is a web-based proxy server to convert some of the Indian language web pages encoded in proprietary encodings into Unicode. Padma, a popular Firefox extension, is extended and reimplemented in PHP to create this proxy server. License of this Software is GNU General Public License (GPL).
Currently Font Transcoder (PADMA- Open source) is integrated/used in the CLIA system to transform Indic text encoded in proprietary formats (ex: dynamic fonts) automatically to Unicode in the offline processing. It only supports webpages. This tool is called in parsing process by running command internally i.e. currently there is no User Interface with this tool.
